Terry was born and educated in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.   He moved to Transcona at the age of 19 to start an apprenticeship as an Electrician with the CNR in 1959.

After completing his apprenticeship, he worked in the Transcona Coach Repair shop for 21 years.   In the spring of 1986 he transferred to the Depot Platform in Winnipeg. In October 1986 Terry transferred to Via when Via took over their own repairs.

Terry worked as a relieving foreman and in March of 1987 became a Mechanical Inspector for Via West.  Later he took a position as a Trainer and when they opened the Winnipeg Maintenance Centre, he became the Training Officer in Equipment Maintenance.

Terry retired on October 29, 1993.  In 2006, he was elected President of the VIA Rail Pensioners’ Association for the Manitoba and Saskatchewan region. In June 2009, at the Association's national bi-ennial meeting, Terry is elected unanimously as National Vice-President and official delegate for the non-unionized on the VIA Rail Pension Board.

  Terry est natif et a reçu son éducation à Portage-la-Prairie, Manitoba.  À l’âge de 19 ans il déménage à Winnipeg pour s’engager comme apprenti-électricien aux ateliers principaux de Transcona du CN en 1959.

À la fin de son apprentissage il travaille pendant 21 ans comme electricien dans l’atelier des voitures remorquées de Transcona.  Au printemps de 1986 il est muté à la gare de Winnipeg.   En octobre de la même année alors que VIA prends en main l’entretien de ses équipements ferroviaires avec son propre personnel il est transféré chez VIA Rail.

Terry travaille comme contremaître de relève et en mars 1987 il est promu comme Inspecteur régional pour VIA-Ouest.  Lors de l’ouverture du Centre d’entretien de Winnipeg il devient Agent formateur au Service mécanique.

Terry prend sa retraite le 29 octobre 1993. En 2006, il devient Président régional pour l’Association des retraités de VIA Rail Canada section Manitoba-Saskatchewan.   En juin 2009 lors de l’assemblée biennale de l’Association il est élu à l’unanimité au poste de Vice-président National et comme délégué officiel des retraités non-syndiqués au Comité des régimes de retraites.
